International Day 2019

The International School of Choueifat, Dubai held their annual International Day on Friday, 22^nd February. As a school with over 80 different nationalities, we love to celebrate our rich diversity at this special event. Over 3,000 guests enjoyed the traditional performances from professional dancers from Kenya, China, Lebanon, Fiji, Circassia, Pakistan, Syria, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Egypt, India, Jordan and Palestine. In the evening, students of all ages captivated the crowds as they performed traditional dances from twenty one different countries on stage. The months of practice and hard work paid off as they impressed parents, faculty and fellow students with their enthusiastic and polished performances. Thirty one countries had decorated stalls displaying their food, drink and local wares. The wide variety of different cuisines and traditional activities from each country was extraordinary, both parents and students went to amazing lengths to showcase their specialities to the delight of the crowds. We had the pleasure of watching a mock wedding from Syria, Pakistan, and India and of partaking in traditional activities and games. 2019 is the Year of Tolerance and ISC Dubai shall strives to build a tolerant school community. Learning about each country’s traditional customs creates a sense of understanding and encourages us to enjoy and accept our similarities and differences. We would like to thank all those who participated in and attended the event, it was a huge success and we look forward to many more in the future.
